This is Part 6 of my project to document the poor text translations in
Alice in the Heart ~Wonderful Wonder World~. For more project details and to start from the very beginning, see
here.
There’s only one place left to visit in the game and it’s a doozy. We’re headed to the Heart Castle! There, we have the opportunity to date Peter White, Ace the Knight, and even the Queen of Hearts.
The color of the text boxes denotes the person speaking:
- Pink: Alice is talking out loud
- Gold or Green: Alice is thinking to herself
- Blue: Someone else is talking to Alice
Let’s start with the introduction to Heart Castle, which is just as bad as all the other intros in the game. I don’t know why they didn’t pay more attention to the parts that you see first.
"Did you receive the shock in the spot where it mustn't?"
"I review my knowledge for out world."
"And you d better to stay hospitalization whole rest of life."
"Do not approach your face towards me Please."
"You do not need to go any where, me neither go."
"Peter does not listen to me nothing."
"I thought that I tried to beat him as later one more again"
"please harry up" (This is an example of the common u/a mixup when going from Japanese to English;
more info here.)
"He verified looking down the soldier who was impassive anymore."
"At the place of Julius, only he shoot for you, it is the sign of his favorite."
"I've just met him later, as soon as I arrived here, immediately......."
"He looked like really craftsman. He looked like passionate in job."
"It is true that he has cute face, but for the rest of him, everything fall down."
"Just in case I ask you a thing, have not you moved to the castle recently, have you?"
"I am not lucky why even I walk, never I can not reach."
"Even no feel any hostility from maids" "They seem no living......."
"The maids got turn in red."
"I have foot tired"
"I stay the mouth opened."
"The flamboyant dress doesn't my sister."
"When she is make up and has air wise, she is a perfect beauty."
"While pulling him apart"
"You said me you gave me, I do not get it back."
Sometimes when a word is misspelled, it turns into a word with a different meaning entirely. That happens often in this game, so I took a few choice examples from the dating routes at the Heart Castle to showcase here:
"If I pleased him, he could be gentile (adj: not Jewish) with me."
"What happen? You're wired (adj: [of a device or network] using wires or cables rather than wireless technology to transmit signals)......"
"nothing like freshly served (verb, past tense: present [food or drink] to someone) heads"
"May be it's not fleshly (adj: relating to human desire or bodily appetites; sensual) served heads but some creepy stuff."
"Well, didn't you get hurt by thrones (noun: a ceremonial chair for a sovereign, bishop, or similar figure)?"
"You were cutting the glass (noun: a hard, brittle substance, typically transparent or translucent, made by fusing sand with soda, lime, and sometimes other ingredients and cooling rapidly) around the hedge of roses"
"the King and you are not marred (verb, past tense: impair the appearance of; disfigure), aren't you?"
The next update will be the final one, and we’re gonna date Peter, Ace, and the Queen of Hearts. How will Alice convince herself that she likes Peter, the guy she’s hated since the beginning of the game? What’s it like dating a queen? Who is Ace? Find out soon!
