Alice in the Heart’s English Translation (Part 7)

This is Part 7 of my project to document the poor text translations in Alice in the Heart ~Wonderful Wonder World~. For more project details and to start from the very beginning, see here.

We’re in the home stretch! Only three people left to date and they all live at Heart Castle. It’s weird to think that this project is almost over. I think our time with Peter, Ace, and the Queen of Hearts is a fitting finale.

The color of the text boxes denotes the person speaking:

  • Pink: Alice is talking out loud
  • Gold or Green: Alice is thinking to herself
  • Blue: Someone else is talking to Alice

Peter White

Peter is the rabbit-man who kidnapped Alice from the real world and forced her to drink a medicine that prevented her from returning. He’s creepy, manipulative, and he never listens to what Alice says. It was a frustrating route! But it was also filled with funny mistranslations.

Ace

Ace is a knight who works at the castle and is constantly getting lost. His route didn’t have a lot of funny mistakes, so his gallery is a bit small. It did have a very hilarious unintentional innuendo caused by the misspelling of the word “doing”:

Vivaldi

Wow, it’s the Queen of Hearts herself! I love that this game makes the queen available to date. Just like the queen from the original story, she’s obsessed with cutting off people’s heads. Alice is determined to change that.

I was so surprised that the queen’s route had the sweetest ending of all the possible “good” endings for each character. Very glad I saved the best for last!

And that’s it for Alice in the Heart ~Wonderful Wonder World~. I hope this journey has brought you many smiles and laughs. The game is no longer available to buy anywhere, and that’s part of the reason I wanted to document its translation – it would have otherwise been completely lost and forgotten.

If you enjoyed this project, please share it with others! And if you have any suggestions for other otome games with bad translations, let me know either in the comments or on Twitter. I can’t get enough of them~
