The weird translation problems just keep coming. I didn’t even know some of these problems were even possible – I always assumed they were theoretical “no way that would ever happen in a translation” ideas.
Neneki is just the Japanese word for "slime" or "mucus" or "phlegm". Strange that they didn't bother to translate it
But this slime attack from the very same enemy is translated
The location names in this translation are just great and I genuinely look forward to seeing every new area because of them
This translation starts to wear you down after a while - in any other game with a decent translation this would probably stand out as awkward and funny but here it's like "eh, that's good enough, whatever"

There's so much going on with this name that I don't know where to begin. Oh wait, IS THAT THE SKY??
The name "Treant" gets mistranslated so often when going from Japanese to English that it's rarer to see it correct... which it isn't here

Stuttering / speech hesitation is interesting in this game's translation
Again, "well come" is so minor compared to everything else weird in this game's translation that it's like "I'm too tired to care". But other video games have had actual fan retranslation projects just to change "well come" to "welcome"!

For once there's a perfect, grammatically correct sentence! But it's still got translation problems: the phrase in Japanese means "man dressed all in black" or "man in black", which is a very different thing! (Also the main character isn't black)

Another victim of English-to-Japanese-back-to-English word spelling: "stoker" here was supposed to be "stalker"

It's spelled "omelette" in one sentence
And then it's spelled "omelet" immediately after. I seem to recall it switching randomly back and forth too afterward

"Polder of Wild Combating Spirits" - Apparently "polder" is a real word: "a piece of low-lying land reclaimed from the sea or a river and protected by dikes, especially in the Netherlands." Even weird translations can be educational!
"Be my side occasionally"
"Crime Servant" is apparently supposed to be intended as "Climb Servant", in the sense that you give up your experience to help your partner "climb" up in levels. But the infamous L/R problem - along with the bizarre name to begin with - resulted in criminal servitude

This "ones" problem keeps happening! It happens consistently enough - but not TOO consistently - that I wonder if one of the translators genuinely thinks this is how it's spelled
"the taste has go down"
"Me who is their child can guarantee!" - This is a good example of how/why Japanese-to-English translators need to "unravel" Japanese sentences and reorder them to sound natural. Poor and/or inexperienced translators often handle phrases this way. The original Resident Evil has some more famous examples of this in action as I recall
"we'll watch over you two far from faraway"
This word appears a lot in this game's translation, and it looks this wonky every single time
She actually says "I don't agree with any of this" in Japanese here. I haven't even been doing much side-by-side translation comparison work but I have no doubt that aspect of the game's translation is brimming with issues too
This big conversation scene with Leafa wound up really well translated. I had almost nothing to say during it. The sudden jumps in translation quality make the whole experience so much more striking
The problems with the word kurozukume being translated as "black" earlier in this article reappears here and it's left as "black" again, but it's actually less out of place in this context
