The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Japanese Switch version)
What is this?

This page features some of the raw, uncurated data and files I’ve assembled for Legends of Localization purposes. I’m sharing these resources with the public, as I’m sure others will find them useful in someway, sometime. For convenient viewing, most of the images I’ve gathered can be seen on the following 74 pages.

Notes

This archive contains screenshots from my first playthrough of Breath of the Wild. I played very differently from most people – I randomly explored the world as soon as I left the plateau, making sure NOT to make any story progress until I ran out of stuff to explore. Naturally, there is very little organization to the screenshots currently, but I’ve tried to label each page to the best of my ability.

Note that because I’ve only played the Japanese version, I’ve surely named some things here differently from the English version of the game. Perhaps someday I’ll do a run through the English version as well. In any case, if you’re curious what someone says in the Japanese version of the game, this is a good place to check.

  1. I couldn’t find where the dialogue for Hateno villagers is when you speak to them holding a torch with blue flame. Every one of them says something different when you do this.

    1. Aww, I wasn’t aware of that, so I don’t think I got those lines. I lit the torches far sooner than I needed to (I did it during page 19 it seems, but didn’t need to until page 53) – I originally thought they were just a fun side puzzle or something that players had to figure out on their own.

  2. Thank you, Mato & Poe for this resource! I don’t read Japanese at all, but using this, I was able to answer my question: What is the hiring policy of Bolson Construction in Japanese? In English, employees for Bolson Construction must have a name that ends in -son. I found out with these screenshots that “Bolson Construction” = “SakuraDA Builders”, and his employees are:
    Karsten = カツラダ (KatsuraDA)
    Hudson = エノキダ (EnokiDA)
    Thus, the employment policy is for names ending in “ダ”!

    The description on this YouTube video also helped me out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF2JMaeuQjI

  3. Are there screenshots of the Adventure Logs?

    1. I don’t think so, I didn’t really pay attention to it when I played back then.
